The Four Mile Area is about 3 to 4 miles north of Buena Vista. Take Colorado Avenue (which is two blocks east of the railroad tracks which are just east of US 24) . Go North on Colorado Ave which turns into County road (CR) 371 just outside BV. . Turn right on CR 375 to enter the 4 Mile Park area. CR 375 is about 200 yards before you would enter the Midland Tunnels, these are old abandoned RR tunnels. They are easy to spot. Park is free to enter and no parking fees either. . Safety is paramount on the trails. As there are washouts and hitting them too fast has caused serious accidents. Most trails are okay but some are very rocky and as noted have washouts or ruts. Just as you enter the area off to your left is a parking are where you can unload your ATV or UTV. You can download maps off the internet or obtain them at the BV Visitors center (old church). off US 24. Hope you enjoy your visit. Aspens are starting to turn in this area now. Balmy 34 here this morning.

Found this as an answer on another site. "Lots of options north east of BV in the Fourmile Recreation Area. The easiest access from town is north on 371, then east on 375. The entrance is located very near Elephant/Frog Rock river access, and you could camp at Frog Rock if you wanted to be near the river, or in any of several other informal sites along the Numbers as you head north on 371...but I like to have a little privacy when camping."
