HENDERSON, N.C. (WNCN) — New information and a detailed timeline have been released in the Vance County death of Javion Magee. The Vance County Sheriff’s Office put out the information shortly after meeting with Javion Magee’s family members and their attorneys on Wednesday, around the same time the family attended a press conference.

The Vance County Sheriff is dismissing claims of a lynching after a Black truck driver was found dead near the base of a tree with a rope around his neck, but the county’s history tells a different story.

Surveillance footage shows Javion Magee buying a rope at Walmart before his death, which remains under investigation with his family suspecting foul play.
