The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced Owasso Public Schools entered an agreement to remedy Title IX violations involving possible sexual harassment in its schools.

Owasso Public Schools reached a resolution with the OCR after an investigation into Title IX sexual harassment violations.

The agreement was prompted by a complaint initially filed by the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, in response to the Feb. 8 death of Owasso sophomore Nex Benedict.
