Jerrod H., a Tennessee-based engineer with a history of designing 3D printable models, has released a new 3D printable case for the M4 Mac mini. It makes the Mini look like a shrunk down Mac Pro.

The Mac mini M4 improves upon what was already a great mini PC with excellent performance, extra ports on both the front and back and a much more capable base model. Its smaller size also makes it a more compelling upgrade that takes up less space on your desk.

It’s easy to love Apple’s powerful little desktop computer, as long as you can avoid buying more RAM or storage.

However, Apple dropped the M4 chip and obliterated Windows laptops in one fell swoop. On Geekbench 6, the MacBook Pro notched a sweet multi-core score of 15,199. This beats our most powerful non-gaming PC laptop, Microsoft Surface Laptop 7, which delivered a score of 14,548 on the same test.

Early teardowns reveal that the M4 Mac Mini uses slotted modular SSDs, rather than soldered-on memory. This modular system means that storage upgrades are technically feasible, but Apple's proprietary SSD design makes upgrades a non-starter for the average customer.

Thanks to a video posted on social media showing the inside of the new Mac mini, we now know it has modular storage and the 256GB base model uses two 128GB chips. This is good news for tech enthusiasts who were disappointed with the M2 Mac mini’s single 256GB chip since it caused slower SSD speeds.
