Louisville Slugger announced tonight that Astros second baseman Jose Altuve has won his seventh career American League Silver Slugger Award. The announcement was made tonight on MLB Network’s Silver Slugger Award show.

Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez has earned the MLB’s Silver Slugger Award for the fifth time in his career.

Altuve’s seven Silver Sluggers are tied with former Chicago Cubs star Ryne Sandberg for the most by a second baseman in MLB history. Altuve sits No. 2 on the all-time postseason home runs list (trailing only Manny Ramirez), and he’s just one of three second basemen this century to win an MVP award (joining Dustin Pedroia and Jeff Kent).
