The Coast Guard announced they have suspended the search for a man who was aboard a sailing vessel that departed from Virginia and was headed to North Carolina.

The search started five miles off the coast of Biloxi where authorities found the empty boat, the Coast Guard’s 8th District said on social media. It had searched 1,032 square nautical miles for a combined 37 hours as of 4 p.m. Monday, Winston said.

An unmanned fishing vessel and possible person in the water were reported near Deer Island, Mississippi, on Sunday.

The Coast Guard is currently searching for Mark Carroll, a 58-year-old male aboard an overdue 42-foot sailing vessel with a blue hull called “Ceol Mor."
