Mavericks' Dereck Lively: Ruled out for Wednesday
Lively (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the Pelicans. This is an expected update from the Mavericks, but fantasy managers will have to wait for more clarity regarding the severity of his sprain -- it was previously reported that X-rays came back negative.
Kyrie Irving returns from 5-game absence; Dereck Lively II exits with ankle injury
Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving, who has been sidelined since Jan. 1 with a back injury, returned to action in Tuesday’s home game against the Denver Nuggets. Irving finished with 11 points (on 4-for-18 shooting), four rebounds, two assists and four steals in Dallas’ 118-99 loss.
Lively had an impactful rookie season for the Mavericks, and now the big man has expanded his game, including his passing.
Dereck Lively II is the nineteen-year-old center who played for Duke University in the 2022-23 season. After completing just his freshman year of college, Dereck decided to enter the 2023 NBA Draft.
Following Tuesday's loss to the Denver Nuggets, Irving spoke in the Mavericks locker room about the injury and prognosis.
