The prime minister confirms the UK's target to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 81% on 1990 levels by 2035.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Britain would cut greenhouse gas emissions by 81% by 2035 as he committed the country to a more ambitious climate goal at the United Nations COP29 climate summit.

The Labour leader, one of the few Westerners to have participated in the 29th Convention on Climate Change, unveiled highly ambitious climate targets for his country. Among the key objectives: 81% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035.
