As she steps into the iconic role of Elphaba, Cynthia Erivo shares what excites her most about her OPI x Wicked collaboration.

Wicked 's release date is still months away, but considering the movie is the film adaptation of a Tony Award-winning musical, and is being released at the end of the year, prime film awards season, it’s perhaps not that surprising that the film is already considering how to handle any nominations.

The two actresses at the center of Wicked - Jon M. Chu's highly-anticipated movie adaptation of the smash-hit Broadway musical, which Universal will release nationwide on Nov. 22 - will not be going head-to-head in the same acting category this awards season,

In the image, Ariana and Cynthia were dressed in their respective costumes as Galinda (known as Glinda from the original Wizard of Oz) and Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. The Nickelodeon alum appeared to have taken the selfie, and she made sure to capture her tall silver crown in addition to Cynthia’s green makeup.

Stage and screen icon and star of the upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked, Cynthia Erivo , was honored at the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner for her prolific work in LGBTQ+ advocacy with HRC’s National Equality Award.

The trailer also heavily features parts of Erivo and Grande's new version of the iconic song "Defying Gravity." It's the most we've heard of this new version of the legendary Broadway track, and Grande and Erivo seem to be knocking it out of the park.

Also starring Jonathan Bailey, the first part of the two-part feature is slated to hit theatres on November 28

It seems like pop icon Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who are both set to star in the upcoming Wicked adaptation, won't be going head-to-head for awards!

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will be competing in different categories for Wicked's awards campaign. Erivo will be featured in the lead actress category for her performance as Elphaba in the film.
