Rafael weakened overnight into a tropical storm and continues taking a westerly path. A system near the Bahamas could bring heavy rains to that area.

Some of the models suggest that Rafael may even do a small loop out in the Gulf. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure near Puerto Rico is bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to the area but has a low chance of development over the next week.

With less than a month left of hurricane season, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring multiple areas with tropical potential. After Rafael regained its Category 3 status on Friday, it quickly weakened into a tropical storm.
