West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose criticized the state government for failing to act promptly on rising rape cases, linking this to inept handling of past incidents, including a recent heinous crime involving a 10-year-old girl.

Bose further lamented the prevailing culture of violence in the state, saying, "Under the present government in Bengal, there seems to be no cure for violence. That’s queer."

KOLKATA: The junior doctors, protesting the rape-and-murder of their colleague at the RG Kar hospital, ended their cease-work but announced an indefinite fast, citing non-fulfilment of their demands by the West Bengal government despite the 24-hour deadline they set.
