Apple Inc. has proposed investing almost $10 million to make additional goods in Indonesia, according to people familiar with the matter, as it seeks to have the country’s ban on sales of its latest iPhone removed.

Indonesia said it has banned sales of smartphones made by Alphabet's Google due to rules requiring the use of locally manufactured components, days after blocking sales of tech giant Apple's iPhone 16 for the same reason.

Apple has enticed the Indonesian government with an investment proposal worth around $10 million, in its efforts to have a ban on its latest iPhone revoked.
