Mikaylah Williams led No. 5 LSU with 19 points as the Tigers struggled for almost three quarters before pulling away for an 87-61 win against Louisiana Tech in the Compete 4 Cause Classic.
The Lady Techsters were a national power under legendary coaches Sonja Hogg and Leon Barmore. Hogg guided them to a pair of national championships and more than 300 wins across nine seasons, then turned the program over to Barmore, who led them to another national title and 11 30-win campaigns. Hogg and Barmore were co-head coaches from 1982-85.
The Tigers extended their advantage to 87-61 in the second half. LSU would outscore LA Tech 48-31. The Tigers made 17-of-29 (58.6%) field goals and 11-of-16 (68.8%) from the free throw line. LA Tech recorded 8-of-29 shots for 28 percent.
The former No. 1 running back in Louisiana will depart Baton Rouge, set to enter the transfer market next month.
