(CBS DETROIT) - Warming centers are opening as temperatures drop and Metro Detroiters endure snow showers.

Central Ohio is expecting its coldest weather of the season this week and organizations around the city are ready to help. There were some chilly winds Wednesday morning and parts of the Scioto River downtown were frozen.

Metro Detroiters are being reminded that warming centers are available to provide relief from the cold and frigid temperatures.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) —Its December, which means warming centers are now open around Knoxville. Warming centers are temporary overnight shelters that open their doors when the weather is dangerously cold. When it becomes colder outside, it puts unhoused people at risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
