OKLAHOMA CITY — Route 66 is a symbol of freedom to Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell. “If you truly want to see America, you’ve got to see Oklahoma,” Pinnell said Monday at a press conference to unveil a new state map that highlights the historic road celebrating its centennial in 2026.

State officials are gearing up for an influx in tourists one year ahead of the centennial of the most famous road in the world. When those thousands of tourists come to Oklahoma to drive along Route 66 next year, they will have a new tool.
