The PlayStation 5 Pro is the most powerful console ever made, but you’ll pay dearly for its performance. Thanks to a faster GPU, it finally delivers 4K and 60 fps performance for PlayStation gamers, with a dash of new ray tracing features.

The biggest problem with the PS5 Pro, in other words, is that the original PS5 is already too good.

After testing a handful of titles, I can say that the difference is appreciable if less stark than it was between the PS4 and PS4 Pro. Here’s why splurging for the upgrade may or may not make sense for you.

But the PS5 Pro comes with an extra 2GB DDR5 memory, more than double the storage at 2TB, and — most importantly — a 62 percent faster GPU, with 16.7 teraflops of raw graphical compute. In my week of testing, the PlayStation 5 Pro delivered better visuals than the standard PS5, but it doesn't come cheap.
