A severe thunderstorm watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 1:21 p.m. in effect until 8 p.m. for Essex, Hudson and Union counties.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City is under a severe thunderstorm watch through 8 p.m. Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The latest alert comes on the heels of a travel advisory and a flood watch for the five boroughs.

On Thursday at 1:18 p.m. a severe thunderstorm watch was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 8 p.m. for Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.
