As any retailer knows full well, it’s never too early to start planning — and selling — for the holidays. And the same might be said for Christmas tree farmers especially those, who vie for the chance to have one of their trees showcased at the White House.

NEWLAND, N.C. — A tree from Cartner’s Christmas Tree Farm in Newland will be presented at the White House next Monday, Nov. 25. The 20-foot tall tree is much more than a Fraser fir. It stands as a symbol of hope and resilience for western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene.
