I love the half-figure eight frames on Elphaba's glasses. It's a nice stylistic choice. Also, I saw some complaints that fancy specs like those would not fit her character. If this was a more grounded setting, I would agree. However, my counterargument is that this is the whimsical land of Oz. For all we know, those are standard issue there.

I’ve seen 8 actresses as Elphaba so far and 7 actresses as Glinda between the Los Angeles, San Francisco, 1NT, 2NT, and West End companies. In terms of acting alone, Emma Hunton was the best Elphaba I’ve seen. Kendra Kassebaum was the best Glinda.

It is a rumination on ethics and fate, through characters and moments that are a blend of the Oz books (more frightening and surreal than most media adaptions) and the elements of 1939 film (Elphie's green skin is an invention for the technicolor film, and the Witches of Oz aren't sisters in the books).

spoiler warning for the wicked years series: Although Elphaba’s death in the first book was real the ending of the second book implies that she is reincarnated as her granddaughter, Rain. which makes sense with the context of the ending of the first book, with the lines from the story Sarima tells Nor multiple times throughout the book.
