Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Maryland. The General Society of Colonial Wars is an historical genealogical, educational and social organization with constituent societies in 30 states, including Maryland, as well as the District of Columbia and the British Isles.
Historic Projects
Below is a sampling of the over 120 preservation projects supported by the Maryland Society since 1893. The Society has funded many historical markers in Maryland, but the most lasting contribution of the Society to the state is the Cecilius Calvert Monument created in1908.
Membership
Society of Colonial Wars in The State of Maryland is a hereditary society that celebrates a history and heritage between 1607 and 1775 when the original 13 colonies were part of the early British Empire. Members are descended from officers in the Colonial Militia, British Army, Royal Navy and the Provincial Government.
